What is AFT Fitness Coaching?

Founded in 2008, AFT Fitness Coaching was initially a personal training and nutrition coaching company solely focused on in-person fitness services. We were an industry leader in outsourced PT, meaning that we operated the personal training departments for 100’s of health clubs across the U.S.

In 2019, we decided to start offering online personal training and remote (online) fitness coaching services. After a year of testing and tweaking we discovered that both our clients and our top coaches seemed to really enjoy and prefer the online fitness coaching program.

By 2021 the online fitness coaching program was our primary business, and in early 2023 we finally pivoted to an online only coaching company.

What are the three most important reasons why AFT Fitness Coaching will make me successful?

  • Guidance: We will provide you with a clear path to follow. This includes a plan for each of what we call the three main pillars of fitness: Strength Training, Nutrition, and Cardio.
  • Accountability: The technology (app) we use allows us to monitor your adherence. Your coach will know when you’re thriving and when you may need some extra help.
  • Motivation: What gets measured, gets results. The progress pics, charts and graphs, and various data points in the app are great reminders that you are heading in the right direction. The bi-weekly meetings with your coach will keep things fresh and interesting. Your remote fitness coach will also help add Variety, create a plan to break through plateaus, strategize with you to work around vacations and holidays, and whatever else you need to be successful.

How do I know the quality of service will be great?

  • We build our fitness and nutrition programs based on sound scientific principles. No gimmicks.
  • We tailor each program to your specific goals, schedule, lifestyle, etc.
  • Our coaches are experienced and highly qualified.
  • Quality Control: Our Director of Fitness Programming reviews each program to ensure that it meets our standards and fits the needs of each client. Our Registered Dietitian does the same for our nutrition coaching component of each program.
  • We are passionate about fitness. This company was founded with the sole purpose of helping people. Every member of our organization, whether it be our CEO or Customer Service team, all started out as coaches or trainers with AFT Fitness Coaching because we wanted to help people.

Do I need a gym membership?

No. Your plan will be based around your specific circumstances. This includes your schedule, where you workout (gym, home, etc), and preferences.

Why does your pricing seem so much lower than similar programs?

We do not have a sales team and we do not do sales. Therefore, we can pass along the savings to our customers. We believe that everyone should have access to quality fitness coaching.

In the Fitness Industry, social media is everything. Why doesn’t AFT Fitness Coaching have a strong online presence?

We’re working on it. Our previous online presence was all under the umbrella of each of our partner health clubs. We never worried about establishing our own brand or growing our online presence. We focused on servicing the members of each of our partner clubs. We have just recently begun to promote our services to the general public.

Will my primary coach also be my nutrition coach?

No. Your primary coach who will be your main point of contact and will be meeting with you bi-weekly.  However, you will also be assigned a nutrition coach who will meet with you and build your nutrition program. 

Both the strength training and nutrition program are tracked via the app, so both coaches can monitor your adherence and progress. But, you will meet with your nutrition coach on an as needed basis.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS ABOUT THE NUTRITION COACHING COMPONENT

Q: What if I want to follow a specific plan, such as Paleo, can you help?  

A: Yes, we can help. In situations where certain macros, food groups, or lifestyle restrictions are in place, our goal would be to ensure that you are obtaining enough of the vitamins, minerals, proteins, etc. that you would need to meet our standard of Good Nutrition. Of course, this would also include some strategies for meal planning and various other tools.

Q: I’m on one of the new weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic, can you help? 

A: Yes, we can help. We do not prescribe the drugs nor are we for or against them.  That decision needs to be between you and your doctor. However, we have seen the pros and cons of the use of these new weight-loss drugs. 

Our goal would be centered around alleviating some of the most common negative side effects such as muscle loss, hair loss, and malnourishment.  Strength training will help with some of these side effects. But, when your appetite is severely limited, making sure the food choices you make are providing the most nutritional bang for your buck is extremely important. 

Q: I already use an APP to track my macros and calories. Why would I need your help?  

A: That’s great that you are utilizing a tool to help you track your nutrition.  But, apps such as myfitnesspal just provide a framework. We can review your food choices and help put together strategies to reach your daily targets. We can adjust as needed to help you break through plateaus, and we can provide you with consistent motivation and accountability to help you stay on track. 

In fact, there are one or two apps that we would highly recommend. These apps are newer to the market and are a little more involved than some of the original apps. But, even those apps are much more effective when you pair their functionality with the collaboration of our coaching.
